Why have a 2nd Colruyt store in La Louvière?

The new Colruyt Haine-Saint-Pierre is located at barely 3km from the Colruyt La Louvière, currently closed for renovation work. Its sales area extends over 1,739 m², being 350 m² more than that of the store being renovated. “There was need for a second Colruyt in La Louvière. The one in rue du Gazomètre had become too dilapidated and its parking too cramped. It is also impossible to enlarge it and provide it with a Collect&Go pick-up point, as it shares the site with the Gamma DIY store”, explains the manager Mathieu Magrone. “And during the temporary closure of the La Louvière store, customers will not have to travel long distances in order to enjoy the best prices close to home”, continues the manager.

Collect&Go, a booming on-line shopping service

The all-new Colruyt Haine-Saint-Pierre will launch the 200th Collect&Go pick-up point when it opens. In the Walloon region, customers are therefore now able to pick-up their shopping booked on-line in 70 Colruyt stores. “The group is continuing to invest in its network of pick-up points so that customers do not have more than 10 km to travel between their home and their pick-up point”, explains the manager. “A 200th pick-up point, that calls for a celebration. On Wednesday 26 June, on the occasion of this opening, all the customers who pick-up their Collect&Go shopping in any pick-up point will receive a bottle of Cava as a gift”, adds the manager.

Butcher’s counter with open work room

Customers can now help themselves to fresh, high-quality meat from a butcher’s counter. Thierry Dhont, head butcher: “Customers can see our butchers at work in an open work room. Useful if they have any questions or special requests. Furthermore, in this type of butchery, they have a better view of our range of meat, cold cuts, and salads.

Colruyt store with low energy consumption

The Colruyt Haine-Saint-Pierre is a low-energy store: insulation of the façade and roof is optimal, and the finishing is also well sealed. For building this store, Colruyt has also used sustainable technologies, such as a propane cooling system, a system to recover heat from refrigeration systems and solar panels on the roof. “This project is part of a much wider renovation plan: by 2029, all Colruyt Group shops must be designed according to the low energy model. The group’s CO2 emission rates should then decrease by a further 4%”, says the manager. The Colruyt Haine-Saint-Pierre is also one of the stores that do not use any fossil fuel.

Electronic price tags

In Colruyt Haine-Saint-Pierre, electronic price tags have replaced paper tags. The manager: “Electronic tags are more ecological and better for the environment. They allow us to economise significantly on both paper and transport. Other benefits that should certainly not be overlooked: we can react much more quickly to last-minute price changes and our employees have more time available, particularly for implementation.

Special open evening

From Wednesday 26 June, the manager Mathieu Magrone, the head butcher Thierry Dhont and their 32 employees will welcome customers in the new Colruyt Haine-Saint-Pierre. Mathieu Magrone: “The evening before, from 5.00 pm to 8.00 pm, everyone will be able to have a sneak preview of the new store as well as the 200th Collect&Go pick-up point. At this special open evening we will also serve drinks and canapés. And on the occasion of opening the 200th pick-up point, a number of surprises await the customers. Everyone is welcome!
