Colruyt, Collect&Go and Bio-Planet recall 4 frozen products: Everyday bami and nasi goreng, Boni Selection Bio peas and Boni Selection mix paysanne

The manufacturer of the products concerned has decided to recall the products in consultation with the Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain (FASFC).

During a check by the manufacturer, traces of Listeria Monocytogenes were found in some ingredients used in the frozen products mentioned above. Consequently, the finished products may be contaminated. If the products are heated to the core, the risk for contamination is limited.

Consumers, who have bought one of the products concerned, are invited not to consume it but to return it to the store. The returned products will be refunded there. In the meantime, the products have been removed from the shelves.

The supplier and manufacturer have made every effort to avoid such incidents in the future.

FAQ

Do you sell other Greenyard articles in your store? Is there no food safety hazard with these products?

The Greenyard frozen products originate from a Hungarian factory. Colruyt Group sells other Greenyard products, but they do not come from the factory where contamination with listeria was discovered.

How did the recall action in Colruyt Group stores go?

Colruyt Group takes no risk when it comes to food safety. As soon as the FASFC and the supplier informed us (12 July), we immediately proceeded to remove 4 products from the shelves. We do not just remove the products concerned from the shelves, but we go one step further and will allow these 4 frozen products to return to our assortment only when the supplier can submit guarantees that these products are 100% safe. Furthermore, we will make our own analyses. Transparent communication to our customers is very important to us. Consequently, we informed customers who bought these products by mail clearly explaining that they can return these products to the store.

What are the chances of contamination?

These are frozen products containing ingredients that originated from the factory where a listeria contamination was discovered. If the products concerned are heated to the core - as recommended for frozen products and according to the preparation method mentioned on the packaging - chances of contamination are limited.

Meanwhile, the four products concerned have been subjected to extra analyses and no contamination was found in these processed products. By way of precaution, we have removed all the products concerned from the shelves.

How can we rely on the safety of the products in your stores?

The food safety of our products and the health of our customers is an absolute priority for Colruyt Group. Colruyt Group takes no risk when it comes to food safety. Colruyt Group's Quality and Product sustainability departments employ about 100 people - the ultimate goal of these people is to make sure the quality remains high and the safety of the customer is guaranteed. They regularly check products and collaborate closely with the suppliers and the federal agency for the safety of the food chain to guarantee the food safety of our high-quality products.
