OKay stores recall Prague schnitzels
Microbiological checks by the Colruyt Group laboratory have demonstrated the presence of Salmonella in the Prague schnitzels. For this reason, OKay decided to remove this product from the shelves in consultation with the FASFC (Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain).
OKay asks its customers not to consume this product and to bring it back to the store. The product will be refunded. Meanwhile, the product has been removed from the shelves in all the OKay stores.
Possible symptoms of Salmonella infection
Possible symptoms of Salmonella infection are fever, stomach cramps and diarrhoea. These symptoms usually occur within 12 to 48 hours after the contamination.
The symptoms usually last 4 to 7 days and most people recover without specific treatment. Young children, pregnant women, people with decreased immunity and elderly people are risk groups. For them, the symptoms may be more serious and result in hospitalisation.
People who have eaten the Prague schnitzel and show these symptoms should consult their family doctor.
If the Prague schnitzel is fried to the core (as indicated on the packaging) there is very little risk for contamination.
