Colleagues and customers join forces

If everyone sweeps the area outside their own door, then that keeps the whole street clean. It might be common sense, but it's also a good way of approaching a complex issue like litter. That's why we want to inspire and support everyone to come up with things they can do to avoid litter. Join us, because together we can make a difference!

4.4 million moments

An empty can, bottle or crisp packet goes straight into the rubbish bin, obviously. But they are also typical examples of the things that easily end up littering the streets. That's why we've designed a reminder that can nudge people towards making that little effort. Six types of soft drink and crisps from our Everyday house brand now carry the slogan 'Together for less litter', along with the appropriate bin symbol. Six might not seem many, but they are popular products that sell to the tune of around 4.4 million items over a four-month period. So, that's 4.4 million opportunities where we can inspire you to actually put the wrappers in the rubbish bin.

A rubbish bin here, a cigarette bin there…

We've all been there: you want to get rid of that empty bottle, but there isn't a rubbish bin to be seen... It's annoying, because nobody wants to have to carry their rubbish around with them. We're happy to make it easy for our colleagues and customers to keep things clean and tidy. That's why, starting from this spring, we're placing around 600 extra waste sorting bins and the same number of new ashtrays around our offices, distribution centres and Colruyt shops. An investment in the region of €700,000, which we are making with pleasure. During the trial period with the new rubbish bins, cleanliness actually increased by between 1 and 4 points on a scale of 1 to 10. Thank you everyone!

We believe!

New packaging, more rubbish bins, posters. It's clear that we are making quite an investment in dealing with litter. Why? Because we want to take our share of the responsibility. Because people rightly expect a business with 30,000 employees and millions of customers to set a good example. And we're happy to do so, because we believe - and we can see as well - that people really can change how they behave. Just think of all the people who have changed their smoking habits in recent years. So, we will continue to play our part in creating a pleasant living environment, with our five-year plan 'Together for less litter'.
