Less litter at the Dour Festival

12 July 2018

It’s often the same song all over again. Every year, festival sites are turned into battlefields after the spotlights are dimmed. Likewise at Dour, where the loudspeakers are beating nice rythms at this very moment. Plastic bottles, pasta boxes and bags of chips, … The ground is littered with trash of all kinds. The Colruyt shop in Dour installed two waste sorting islands to encourage the festival-goers to keep the terrains clean and to diminish the amount of litter.

Doubled efforts

Already in 2017, Colruyt Laagste Prijzen had stimulated festival-goers to sort their trash by installing a waste sorting island on the car park of the shop. Because of the success, not one but two waste sorting islands were installed this year. Each island has a container of 2,500 liters for residual waste, a similar one for PMD waste and one glass container of 4,000 liters. These containers are emptied twice a day.
