Dreambaby home-delivered 2500 baby gift lists

31 March 2020

The coronacrisis has a big impact on our company and our customers. Due to the sudden closure of all non-food stores in Belgium, new parents can no longer pick up sorely needed baby gear from their baby gift list at Dreambaby stores. Dreambaby co-workers rolled up their sleeves and came up with a hands-on solution. Team managers and regional managers personally delivered all orders for March to mums and dads across the country. As a company, we try to find solutions to help our customers in these trying times. Another step in making the world a warmer place.

Daring logistic exploit

"Dreambaby manages about 2,500 baby gift lists per month. Parents usually pick up the gifts in the stores. Since this is no longer possible, many mums and dads run into difficulties because they need their baby gear", says Noor Van Der Wegen, marketeer at Dreambaby. "Our co-workers put their heads together and decided to deliver the baby gifts to the customers' homes. An unprecedented logistic feat."

Delivery table

Fanny Decrocq, regional manager at Dreambaby, also swung into action. Together with store co-workers, she called all customers with a baby gift list to ask them which products they urgently needed and where we could deliver them. "After that, we jumped into the car to bring everything to the mums and dads in time."

Customers and employment are key

Thanks to this approach, two thirds of Dreambaby personnel are still working. Colruyt Group tries to help its customers and to keep as much people employed as possible. Noor: "In April, we will have to take new initiatives; indeed, the coronavirus does not stop baby's from being born."

Dreambaby started a working group this week to think of structural solutions to this specific problem. The team already prepared a warehouse to centralise the baby gift lists packages. This will save us many kilometres and unburden Dreambaby co-workers a little. Afterwards, we will evaluate which measures we will need in the longer run. What matters most now is to do everything we can to help mums, dads and their babies.
