Why an Eco-Score?

9 March 2021

Is calculating the environmental impact of food just fun for mathematicians? Perhaps. The result, however, is interesting for everyone. The Eco-Score shows us the ecological impact of what we eat, so that we can consciously make more eco-friendly choices. An important step for our planet, because with the right choices we can significantly reduce the pressure on the environment.

Every gesture counts

The figures about the impact of food speak for themselves. We are facing a major environmental challenge. But there is also good news: we can change those figures! By consuming differently and favouring foods that use fewer resources, cause less pollution and are better for our ecosystems.

The Eco-Score enables you to make these ecological choices in your daily consumption. This is how you can easily make a difference. Out of respect for our planet and the next generations. Because when it comes to the environment, there are no 'small' efforts. Every gesture counts.

What does your food have to do with the environment?

Before your food reaches your plate, it has to be produced, processed, packaged, transported, refrigerated, etc.  All this requires a lot of energy and raw materials. From the energy used to heat greenhouses to the fuel to transport products to the shops. This all causes environmental pollution and gas emissions. The food industry therefore strongly adds to climate change.

Sustainable entrepreneurship

By using the Eco-Score, we want to help you consume more sustainably. We also want to reduce the ecological impact of our products. Why? Sustainability is in our DNA. It is the common thread in everything we do.
