The new ‘Collect&Go Connect’ app makes it easier for people to do each other's shopping
Our online grocery service Collect&Go, in partnership with OKay and OKay Compact, is testing 'Collect&Go Connect' a shopping community that connects local customers and local shoppers, for a period of six months. This is Colruyt Group’s first initiative in the sharing economy. Users select their products via an app and determine the time of delivery and fee they are willing to pay. As a shopper, you choose which shopping basket you are willing to accept.
Collect&Go Connect connects people
"With this platform, we want to connect two groups of people: those who would like some help with their shopping and those who want to earn a bit extra by doing some shopping for other people in their neighbourhood", explains Tom De Prater, who is responsible for Collect&Go. “We think that this is an appealing alternative formula for families with young children, people who are (temporarily) less mobile or busy people who simply don’t always have time to go shopping.”
OKay is the ideal partner
A service such as Collect&Go Connect encourages a social network in neighbourhoods. Fabrice Gobbato, managing director of OKay: “By putting people who live near each other in contact with one another, we are creating connected neighbourhoods.”
Furthermore, Collect&Go Connect is specifically aimed at the smaller shopping baskets, which makes OKay and OKay Compact the logical partner. As every neighbourhood is different, the initiative is being tested in several locations: in the centre of Ghent (OKay Krommewal, Sint-Pietersnieuwstraat and Voskenslaan), in the suburbs (OKay Heusden) and in 3 town centres in West Flanders (Zwevegem, Vichte and Oedelem).
Complementary to existing services
Collect&Go wants to make it easier for people to do their shopping, by offering services such as its established online shopping service and now its new service, Collect&Go Connect. “We recently extended our trial for home deliveries to include the Brussels Periphery. We are also looking at how we can reach people in the city even more easily. This new service fits perfectly with that," explains Tom De Prater. With this service, Collect&Go hopes to attract new customers and provide an even better service to existing customers.
