What is Colruyt Group doing to create a more sustainable world?
At Colruyt Group, we’re working step by step towards more sustainable choices. As a retailer, producer and employer, we’re taking concrete actions: from reducing emissions and energy consumption to offering healthier products and ensuring fair supply chains. On this page, you’ll discover what we’re doing and the goals we’ve set ourselves.
What is our approach to sustainability?
Sustainable business practices and conscious consumption go hand in hand. We start with ourselves: as a retailer, producer and employer, we are making our own operations more sustainable by setting clear, measurable targets. By 2030, we will:
- further reduce emissions from our transport or make it emission-free;
- increase the number of low-energy shops;
- offer more plant-based products;
- and reduce our CO₂ emissions.
In addition, we are tackling food waste and working with partners on long-term solutions.
At the same time, we want to start a broader positive movement. Today, we are working on more than 150 concrete initiatives. We have grouped these into three clear themes. We cherish every step forward that we take together with our staff, partners and customers, however big or small. In this way, we can build a more sustainable world for the next generation, step by step.
Environmental awareness
We are minimising the impact of our products and activities, for example by reducing our energy consumption and making our transport more sustainable.
Healthy
We are helping customers make informed choices, with a wider range of healthier products and initiatives focusing on exercise and nutrition.
Caring for each other
We are committed to fair supply chains and supporting people in vulnerable situations, including through partnerships with social organisations.
What are our sustainability goals?
Which commitments and partnerships do we have?
Much of our progress is achieved in collaboration with partners or through commitments. We work together with suppliers, government and organisations on specific issues such as the environment, health and fair supply chains. This ensures faster progress with a greater impact.
