A diverse workforce (in terms of age, background, etc.) brings a wide range of expectations to the workplace. Ideas about personal development, work-life balance, mental health at work, stability, and corporate social responsibility change over time and are interpreted differently by different people. We are actively addressing these issues to maintain a high level of engagement within the organisation.

Belgium is grappling with a large number of people with long-term illnesses, with estimates suggesting that around 585,000 people have been unable to return to work for more than a year—or can only do so on a part-time basis—due to physical or mental health issues. In our role as a food and health retailer, as Belgium’s largest private employer, and as a people-centred company, we are launching a counter-movement. Workable work, prevention, and support are key concepts in this effort.
