Colruyt Group, the Belgian food and health retailer
Colruyt Group’s roots lie in food retail. Over three generations, we have evolved from a wholesale grocery business into a retail group with a wide range of diverse and complementary brands. Changing customer needs and our long-term vision have led us over the years to expand into non-food, renewable energy, B2B services and online retail. We also support our customers’ needs in terms of health and wellbeing. A logical choice, as food and health go hand in hand.
Our activities in a nutshell
We have a broad and diverse portfolio of supermarkets, online webshops and B2B services, each with their own focus, such as lowest prices (Colruyt), organic (Bio-Planet), convenience (Okay, Delitraiteur), pure flavours (Cru)...
With brands such as fitness chain Jims, online pharmacy Newpharma and our Colruyt Group Academy, we offer customers a broad and complementary health offer.
Finally, we are also active in several non-food markets and in the energy sector.
Food retail: making conscious consumption easy
Customers have increasingly multifaceted expectations. They want quality, an attractive price, convenience and attention to health and sustainability. We make that combination possible, with retail formats and services that fit the daily reality and rhythm of every customer.
Weekly and daily grocery shopping
At Colruyt, our largest supermarket, price-conscious families have been doing their weekly groceries at the lowest prices since 1976. For quick and affordable daily groceries, customers visit Okay’s convenient neighbourhood supermarkets. And in the welcoming neighbourhood stores of Spar Colruyt Group, operated by independent entrepreneurs, the focus is on good food and enjoyment.
For every lifestyle
Although our supermarkets already largely respond to the need for healthy food, quality and convenience, we also have retail formats with a distinct focus. Those who want a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle will find what they are looking for at Bio-Planet. Those who are passionate about pure flavours and exquisite quality will be delighted at Cru. With its fresh and balanced meals, Delitraiteur makes it easy for those who have little time.
Online shopping
Nothing is as convenient as shopping online. With Collect&Go, we have been great at this for 25 years: customers reserve products from Colruyt and Bio-Planet, and choose collection or home delivery. Foodbag, the Belgian meal box with local ingredients, as well as Boir, our webshop for quality (non-)alcoholic drinks, also save our customers time and offer convenience.
B2B food retail
Business customers such as associations, food service businesses, schools and healthcare institutions can also rely on us. At Colruyt Professionals, they can efficiently and affordably do their bulk purchases. At food service company Solucious, they can turn to us for deliveries and tailor-made catering.
Colruyt Group food retail in facts and figures
Food retail accounts for 80.6% of our turnover.
We have almost 30% market share in Belgian food retail.
With 519 food stores, we are strongly represented in Belgium and Luxembourg.
Our online shopping service Collect&Go has been the largest in online food retail for 25 years.
Colruyt was the overall winner in the ‘Mollie Retailer of the Year’ election in 2025-2026.
In May 2025, we acquired all 41 Delitraiteur stores. This enables us to grow further in cities and offer our customers even more convenience.
A health offer tailored to the customer’s needs
Nutrition and health are inextricably linked. That is why we also use our craftmanship in retail to make health accessible to everyone. We do this together with all our brands, from our supermarkets and neighbourhood stores to our specialised formats such as fitness chain Jims, online pharmacy Newpharma and our Colruyt Group Academy.
“We are a food retailer through and through, but we also want to help people live more consciously and healthily.”
Focus on prevention
Concrete nutrition tips from Bio-Planet to prevent diabetes, personalised exercise advice from Jims, a healthy cooking workshop from Colruyt Group Academy or personal guidance from Yoboo... We provide our customers in an accessible way with the insights and tools to gradually turn small habits into a healthy routine that remains achievable. Because prevention is better, and cheaper, than having to cure.
Accessible offer
Health should not be a luxury. With our extensive network of physical and online stores, we bring healthy food and advice within everyone’s reach. We also focus on affordability, for example through the lowest prices at Colruyt and our private label Boni. We make scientific insights comprehensible (e.g. in our Academy) and, with digital tools such as the Xtra app, we make it easier to make healthy choices.
Personalised
Everyone lives differently. That is why, at Colruyt Group, anyone can take steps towards better health in their own way and at their own pace. Consider the Yoboo app, which guides customers towards their health goals based on their daily habits, or the freedom of choice when putting together a Foodbag meal box. Or the useful Nutri-Test from Newpharma, which provides customers with personalised nutrition advice.
Broader than food
Food is our profession, so it goes without saying that we focus on offering healthier food options and inspiring customers with healthy recipes. But health is also about exercise and mental and social wellbeing. That is why we choose an integrated approach: our brands complement each other and collaborate with external care and health partners. Because health is a shared responsibility.
“The strength of Colruyt Group is that together with all our brands we provide answers to a broad range of health-related questions.”
Frequently asked questions
-
Colruyt is the supermarket where customers do their weekly groceries at the lowest prices. The chain originated from the Discount stores, the first supermarkets that Jo Colruyt opened in the 1960s and which he renamed Colruyt in 1976. For more than 50 years, the supermarket has guaranteed the lowest price, for every product, at any moment.
Colruyt Group is the umbrella company of which the Colruyt supermarket is part, alongside dozens of other retail formats. Colruyt Group was founded in 2007, when the expansion in the number of formats created the need for a group level. The group stands for the shared values of the various subsidiaries and is responsible, among other things, for the Step by Step programme, which brings together initiatives to make conscious consumption easy. Examples of such initiatives are the Nutri-Score and the Green-score.

How does Colruyt Group contribute to the health of people who have less easy access to healthy food?
We support projects that make balanced nutrition accessible to families with limited means. On the one hand, these are initiatives by partners, such as Brooddoosnodig and Gezond groeien, which we support through our Colruyt Group Foundation. Thanks to our sustainable savings programme in the Xtra app, our customers can also give those projects a boost.
On the other hand, we also set up our own initiatives. Colruyt’s recipe booklet ‘Dinner is served at 1-2-3 euros’ is distributed every two weeks via local Public Social Welfare Centres and other social organisations. Our food stores also systematically donate their food surpluses to Food Banks and other social organisations, ensuring that balanced nutrition reaches the families who need it.
