Using energy more efficiently

Our buildings, machinery and vehicles consume a great deal of energy. We are therefore looking at the bigger picture to become more energy-efficient: from the fuels used in our transport and the heating in our shops to the employee who is the last to switch off the lights. With one clear goal: by 2030, we will increase our energy efficiency in Belgium by 20% compared with the base year of 2021.

Where do we stand today?

By 2030, we want to consume 20% less energy compared to the base year 2021.

Objective 2030

How is Colruyt Group using energy more efficiently?

As we want to continue growing as a group and are committed to automation, we have opted for a relative objective. This means we are focusing on more efficient consumption per million euros of turnover, so that growth and the careful use of energy go hand in hand. To achieve the 20% reduction by 2030, we are focusing on three pillars:

Een witte windmolen rijst op achter een groen industriegebouw en een lommerrijke vijver, waarvan de weerspiegeling glinstert in het kalme water onder een helderblauwe hemel.

Reducing our environmental impact through lower greenhouse gas emissions and less waste

Using energy carefully is not the only sub-objective we have for reducing the environmental impact of our own activities. By reducing our own emissions by 42% by 2030 and by reducing waste or recycling it effectively, we are gradually reducing our impact.
