Making environmentally conscious choices easier with the Green Score
With the Green Score, we help customers recognise and compare the environmental impact of food products. The clear rating system from A+ to F makes complex sustainability information understandable and accessible. In this way, we support more sustainable food choices.
Why do we use and promote the Green Score?
We want to encourage more sustainable food choices.
It’s difficult to (accurately) compare products in terms of sustainability without looking up or comparing all the environmental data. With the Green Score, customers can make informed choices faster and more easily. By providing this clear and accessible information, we aim to contribute to a more sustainable diet.
By providing transparency on environmental impact, the Green Score encourages our internal teams and suppliers to develop products with a lower environmental impact and to make them more visible.
of Belgian consumers trust the Green Score.

How do we promote more sustainable consumption?
We promote sustainable choices with the Green Score through our sustainable rewards programme, which rewards customers for purchases with Green Score ratings of A+, A and B, in communication campaigns and by clearly displaying the label on products.
You can now find the label on the packaging of many of our own-brand products.
In the Xtra app, you can find the score by scanning the product’s barcode (including those of A-brands) via the ‘Product Info’ option. You can also find the score on the Bio-Planet and Colruyt websites.
At Colruyt, Okay, and Bio-Planet, the label for many of our own-brand food products is printed on the price tag.
What is the impact of using the Green Score?
The Green Score helps us make sustainability more tangible and visible to customers. We see various potential effects of using the score on, among other things, customer behaviour, product assortment, and brand perception.
Customer awareness
The main impact of the Green Score is raising awareness. The score allows customers to compare the environmental impact of products and make informed choices. Products with a favourable Green Score become more visible. In addition, we promote products with Green Scores of A+, A and B through our sustainable rewards programme . This way, we go a step beyond simply raising awareness. We also encourage customers to add products with a good Green Score to their shopping carts more often.
Customers can now check the Green Score for 10,000 A-brand products and 4,800 own-brand products in the Xtra app and on all Colruyt Group websites. The score is featured on more than 900 Boni product packages. Our own market research in 2024 and 2025 shows that the Green Score is becoming well established:
