Comeos: industrial packaging

Through the sector commitment on industrial packaging 2020-2030, the Belgian business community, together with sector federations and organisations such as Comeos, is working on further sustainability and circularity of industrial packaging. Although Belgium is already one of the European leaders in the field of reuse and recycling of this kind of packaging, the sector wants to take further steps in the coming years to reduce the environmental impact and keep raw materials in the cycle as much as possible.

The commitment focuses on various themes: preventing packaging waste, encouraging reusable packaging and bulk deliveries, improving the eco-design of packaging, increasing recyclability and using renewable or recycled raw materials. In addition, efforts are being made to improve selective collection, transparent traceability of packaging flows and the sharing of knowledge and good practices between companies.

By working together within the sector, they want to accelerate the transition to a circular economy and ensure that packaging not only continues to fulfil its logistical and protective function, but also contributes as much as possible to a more efficient use of materials and a lower environmental impact. This joint approach supports the ambition to build an even more sustainable and circular packaging system by 2030.

As a member of Comeos, Colruyt Group endorses this sector commitment and actively contributes to initiatives that prevent packaging waste, stimulate reuse and further strengthen the circularity of commercial packaging.
