Indaver and Fost Plus: first meat trays with recycled plastic

Colruyt is pioneering the first meat trays with recycled polystyrene from chemical recycling. The plastic packaging material from collected yoghurt jars and foam trays from the PMD bag is processed at Indaver’s new Plastics2Chemicals factory in Antwerp. This collaboration builds on the efforts made in 2023: by banning ‘carbon black’ dye in foam trays, the trays became more sortable and therefore also more recyclable. As a result, there is sufficient feedstock for the new installation and together we are driving change across the entire market.
