Combining forces for sustainable development in the North Sea

Colruyt Group is a co-founder of and driving force behind Blauwe Cluster (Blue Cluster). This association wants to be the reference for sustainable development in the North Sea off Belgium, with a focus on ecological coastal protection, balanced seafood and renewable energy. Participation in this initiative offers us a lot of opportunities as a group for renewing our product range and making it more sustainable.

Blue Cluster is primarily a think tank and platform that aims to combine forces, and facilitate and coordinate projects within the ‘blue economy’. The association was officially recognised as a ‘spearhead cluster’ by the Flemish government (Vlaio, the Flanders Innovation and Entrepreneurship Agency) mid 2018. The platform can thus provide additional resources and effectively become the central point of contact for anyone who wants to undertake sustainable development in the North Sea. This recognition will not only boost project work, but also allow the development of a broad-based vision for the marine challenges of the future, for example.
