Green Deal Biodiversity launched at Colruyt Group
More than 110 companies, organisations and local authorities have gathered at our head office in Halle to sign the 'Green Deal Companies and Biodiversity' in the presence of the Flemish minister for the Environment, Nature and Agriculture Joke Schauvliege. All partners commit themselves to promoting biodiversity in business areas over the next three years. By September 2021 approximately 1,250 hectares of business area will be embellished with permanent or temporary nature. At Colruyt Group we are 100 % behind the deal and we invest considerably in greening our stores, distribution centre and offices.
Commitment to more green
By signing the 'Green Deal Companies and Biodiversity' we are underlining our commitment to more green in and around our sites. Besides our long-standing tradition of making our parking areas as green as possible, we have stepped up our awareness of and efforts towards biodiversity conservation in recent years. Check out some of our initiatives:
The Green Deal 'Companies and Biodiversity' is a partnership between the Flemish Government and over 110 partners (companies, project developers, intermunicipal authorities, contractors, ...). The partners get the opportunity to experiment, learn from each other and build a network. The partnership was established by the Environment Department of the Flemish Government, the Agency for Nature and Forests, consultancy agency Corridor and volunteer organisation Natuurpunt. This is already the fourth Green Deal in Flanders. In 2017 we already signed the Green Deal Circular Purchases.
With this initiative, we contribute to the following Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.
