CRU tests pick-up service and home deliveries

Fresh market CRU wants to make sure its customers can keep enjoying fresh, delicious products without a care in the world. Consequently, on top of the great efforts made in the markets, CRU organises a temporary pick-up service in Antwerp, Ghent and Overijse. In Ghent and Antwerp, it also started a test project for home deliveries with Cargo Velo. The fresh market can thus help customers who cannot travel and contributes to a warmer society step by step.

Test project with Cargo Velo

"At the end of last year, CRU organised a first test with home deliveries in Ghent", says Stefan Goethaer, manager at CRU. "Because many customers cannot or are afraid to go out, we decided to expand the test project in this unusual period and literally meet a limited number of customers by means of home deliveries." The fresh market organises these deliveries in cooperation with Cargo Velo only in Ghent and Antwerp. Indeed, the radius is restricted to 5 km, which is more obvious in a city. In Overijse, customers can have their order prepared in the store of course.

Customised customer service

"Customers can keep shopping in our markets", says Sandra Michiels who is responsible for marketing. "For people, who cannot come to our markets or only wish to pick up, we have placed an overview of our basic assortment online." Customers can send their order to the email address of their market. Colruyt Group's central customer service is helping CRU. They send all order mails to the markets where co-workers prepare the orders. When they are ready, Cargo Velo picks them up and takes them to the customers. "It's quite a challenge and we are very grateful to all our co-workers, because it is thanks to them that we were able to organise this so fast."
