Colruyt Group supports the Christmas action Everyone Food bank

14 December 2020

This Christmas, prepare a little more for less fortunate people ... and turn your home into a temporary food bank! A warm appeal of The Belgian Federation of Food banks, which we at Colruyt Group want to support. Indeed, everyone deserves to enjoy a delicious meal on Christmas eve.

Organise your own food bank

For most of us, Christmas eve is conviviality as well as delicious food and drinks. Unfortunately, not everyone gets this opportunity. The Belgian Federation of Food banks wants to do something about that with the "Everyone Food bank" initiative. We support this action with all our heart and launch an appeal to you to organise such a 'food bank' in your home on Christmas eve. Prepare a few extra portions for a single person or a family near you. In this way, you can contribute to a nice Christmas for less fortunate people.

The action fits in with The Warmest Week

A concrete, warm and simple gesture

"Everyone Food bank" is an ideal initiative  to bring light in these dark days, with a concrete, warm and simple gesture. As volunteer chef, proceed as follows: register at iedereenvoedselbank.be and choose one or several people in your neighbourhood for whom you want to prepare a Christmas diner. Share your menu and make arrangements for pick-up or delivery. It is possible on 24 December, or earlier.

Would you like to receive a Christmas meal? Register at your food bank or at iedereenvoedselbank.be/kerstmaal.

Tips and inspiration

As partner of "Everyone Food bank" we are using all our channels to rouse customers' and co-workers' interest for this action. Moreover, in folders and online, we will also share a few recipes and handy tips. No inspiration? At the Colruyt Group Academy, you will find three easy, yet festive recipes!

With our recipes, you can easily serve a festive meal.

Partner since 1997

Colruyt Group has been a privileged partner of The Food banks for more than 20 years now and supports the organisation with several initiatives. During the annual donation action of Colruyt in June 2020, our customers donated more than 43,000 meal packages. In 2019, we donated a record quantity of 4,262 tonnes of unsold but still perfectly safe food products to The Food banks.

The Food banks pick up unsold food in our stores and distribution centres.

As a partner of The Food banks, we want to give less fortunate people a lovely Christmas eve. We launch an appeal to everyone to join us. We will make sure chefs and neighbours find each other. In this way we help to create a better society, step by step.

With this initiative, we contribute to the following Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.

No proverty Zero hunger
