Responsible soy cultivation
Colruyt Group aims at the most sustainable soy cultivation. For soy in animal feed, we have been purchasing credits through the Round Table on Responsible Soy platform since 2015. For the food products of our private labels we buy certified soy as much as possible.
Food products with responsibly cultivated soy
For our private label food products such as Boni or Everyday we never use genetically modified soy. We make a distinction between two types of food products whereby we follow the international TIER-classification.
- TIER 1 includes products in which soy is a direct ingredient and makes up more than 5% of the product (e.g. soybeans, soy fibers, soy milk, fermented soy, soy protein, soy flour, edamame beans, soy oil, soy flower, etc.).
- TIER 5 includes products that contain less than 5% soy or soy derivatives.
We aim to source as much soy as possible from Europe and North America. Occasionally, we need to purchase small volumes from Asia or South America. Since soy cultivation in those regions carries a risk of deforestation, we require certification (RTRS, ProTerra or organic) or compensate by purchasing RTRS-credits.
Voedingsproducten met verantwoord geteelde soja
Voor de voedingsproducten van onze eigen merken zoals Boni of Everyday gebruiken we nooit genetisch gemodificeerde soja. We maken onderscheid tussen twee soorten voedingsproducten waarbij we de internationale TIER-classificatie volgen.
- TIER 1 bundelt producten waarbij soja een direct ingrediënt is en voor meer dan 5 % soja aanwezig (bv. sojabonen, sojavezels, sojamelk, gefermenteerde soja, soja-eiwitten, sojameel, edamame-bonen, soja-olie, sojabloem ...).
- TIER 5 bundelt producten die minder dan 5 % soja bevatten of soja-afgeleiden bevatten.

Soy in feed for private label products
In Belgium, it is not yet possible to physically separate the flows of sustainable soy from the 'conventional' soy in animal feed. That is why we compensate 100% of the soy needed in animal feed for the production of private label products by purchasing certificates through the Round Table on Responsible Soy.
We streven ernaar om maximaal soja aan te kopen uit Europa en Noord-Amerika. Soms moeten we kleine volumes uit Azië of Zuid-Amerika aankopen. Omdat de sojateelt daar gepaard gaat met een risico op ontbossing, eisen we certificaten (RTRS, ProTerra of BIO) of compenseren we met de aankoop van RTRS-credits.

Soja in veevoeder voor eigenmerkproducten
Bij veevoeder is het in België nog niet mogelijk om de stromen van duurzame soja fysiek te scheiden van de ‘conventionele’ soja in veevoeder. Daarom compenseren we 100 % van de soja die nodig is in diervoeder voor de productie van eigenmerkproducten door de aankoop van duurzaamheidscertificaten via de Round Table on Responsable Soy.
