Together for less CO₂

To combat global warming and to improve air quality, we’re constantly making efforts to reduce our CO₂ emissions. We’re generating our own renewable energy, renovating our shops, introducing new technologies and devising a smart mobility plan. The aim? To reduce our relative greenhouse gas emissions by 20% (in relation to our sales) by 2020 compared to 2008.

Producing our own green energy

Eoly is Colruyt Group’s sustainable energy producer and generates power using wind turbines, solar panels and cogeneration. In this way, Eoly avoids producing 17,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually and we increase our group’s energy independence.

Smart mobility

29,000 employees and 4 million customers? That calls for a smart mobility policy. We encourage our employees to opt for green transport, ensure that our shops and pick-up points are easily accessible as well as making our goods transport greener.

Wondering how we put all this into practice?

Energy-efficient buildings and technologies

By 2029, if you shop at Colruyt Group, you’ll only be shopping in low-energy shops. We’re introducing new technologies such as propane and propene refrigeration, and are working with DATS 24 and Eoly to build a smart electricity network. All these measures not only ensure fewer CO2 emissions, they also improve comfort in our shops.
